How to Store Your Bikinis for Winter

When the season ends, a little care before storage means your swimwear emerges next summer looking exactly as you left it. Here is how to put it away the right way.

Wash before storing

Always store swimwear clean. Lingering salt, chlorine and sunscreen will set into the fibres over the winter and can cause permanent discolouration.

Make sure it is fully dry

Even slightly damp swimwear can develop mildew and odours in storage. Let each piece dry completely before folding it away.

Fold, do not hang

Hanging for months stretches the fabric. Instead, fold each piece gently and lay it flat in a drawer, away from direct sunlight and heat.

Keep cups in shape

For moulded or padded tops, avoid folding the cups inwards. Lay them flat or lightly stuff them with tissue to preserve their shape.

A few mindful minutes in autumn save you from disappointment in spring.
